Colombia Missionary Focus
David Taylor moved to Colombia eight years after having a dream in 1991 – and knowing that that was exactly where God wanted him. After training in language, culture and missiology for several years elsewhere in South America in preparation, he moved to Colombia. He moved knowing that he had nothing special to offer - but that God wanted him there.
And a lot of what happened wasn’t particularly encouraging. He’s been robbed on several occasions, assaulted, bitten by a scorpion and a black widow spider and threatened countless times.
David said: “But through it all, God has blessed this ministry exceedingly and abundantly – more than I could have ever imagined.”

He founded the charity Colombia ChildCare. This organization runs numerous projects to help the poor children of Colombia – including schools, a medical centre and projects to help families and communities build businesses and be self sustaining.
Poverty in Colombia frequently forces children onto the streets, making them vulnerable to a life of prostitution, drug addiction or joining an armed militia group.

Their website tells of Veronica, a girl whose parents are unemployed and whose father is a drug abuser – who started coming to their project at just two years old - malnourished, very shy and frail. Since being in the project, she has started to develop properly and now loves being there and welcoming new guests.
David, his family and ministry are also currently running several Christian colleges, food and healthcare programs, church plants, initiatives for unreached tribal groups and a music and sport academy. David is also the Senior Pastor at Fundacion Oasis De Esperanza church.
David said: “It’s truly been an amazing journey thus far, but I am convinced the latter days will far exceed the former ones.”
