Around Europe with Paul Weaver

Belgium

I had the privilege of addressing a Belgium Pentecostal conference in May. This is a young yet enthusiastic network of churches that are growing and are open to the ministry of the Holy Spirit. I arrived in a suit not knowing quite what the dress code was. The leader of the movement met me at the airport in a track suit: I thought, 'I think I might have got this one wrong!' We journeyed one hour to a camp, tents, rain and children’s bunk beds. As I climbed into bed that night, I laughed to myself as I considered my unsuitable attire and how I was going to keep warm the next day in the inclement weather?

Turkey

Never off duty: We have just had a holiday in Turkey. A few days in, a man came to me to talk about his wife who was dying with cancer; he had heard I was a vicar. He was a Roman Catholic. We talked and I empathized with his situation and said we would pray for her. Jenn and I did just that but I felt I needed to go and lay hands on her. The next day I expressed this to John. He responded and said he would bring his wife to our room and a few hours later they arrived. We shared the love of God with them both and then knelt down and laid hands on Charlotte. We took their address and said we would continue to pray and keep in touch. Please pray for Charlotte, her husband is a networker and would make a great Christian.

Scotland

What a joy to spend a weekend with our pastors and their wives in the Scottish Region. God’s blessing was very special to us all as we shared together. On the Saturday morning, I was encouraging the group to stop going round in circles. I got to this vital point in my address where I wanted to make a clear application prophetically into their lives, when the fire bell went in the Hotel and we all had to get out of the room where we were having our time together. The hotel staff led us out and we walked about the hotel once until we came to the front entrance where we were allowed back in again. Sometimes the unexpected happenings in life reinforce the spiritual truth we are seeking to teach.
