An Adventurous Time at the North Area iCamp

"Our kids loved every minute. Only three of the 12 were church kids so it was all new to them but they’ve gone home singing worship songs and telling their parents the memory verse from Hebrews.”
Donna Lamb, St Lukes Pontefract

We spoke to Charlotte Hibbert, kids pastor at Legacy Church, who has run the North area iCamp for the last five years about this year’s camp, and how it’s grown.

"It’s great to see the same churches and kids coming back as well a new churches, and generally such a good combination of social, activity times and encounter times.  This year we had six churches, 51 children and 24 leaders.

"Lisa Lyall from the Scottish Area brought the ministry this year, and spoke about being on a journey and running a race. The kids learned a memory verse – keeping their eyes fixed on Jesus.

"She brought Sammy Brown with her, a kids leader from Scotland with a really powerful testimony. It was great to see kids from non-Christian homes connecting, you could hear a pin drop in the room. The kids were massively impacted.

"For me the highlights are seeing kids from different churches creating friendships and building on them year on year – and the leaders too. More and more leaders connect through the year now too, coming to our ikids training and coffee days. People are really investing into the iKids concept.

"I loved seeing the boys enthusiastically worship too, almost every boy was screaming their heart out for Jesus and fully engaging with the actions, whereas usually they are more reserved. I love seeing the kids get a revelation of Jesus and seeing that lightbulb moment for them all, seeing them move forward wherever they are on the journey.
"It’s great to have no end time to the meetings; the freedom of being able to allow kids to meet Jesus where they’re at."
Julie Berg from City Life Church in Sheffield said: “City Life kids really enjoyed all of it. Especially those who came for the first time – they can’t wait until next year.”
Hazel Goodall from Revive Church in New Mills said: “All our kids were really impacted and challenged by Sammy’s testimony. Had a fab weekend and our year 6’s are gutted it was their first and last time at kids camp!”

Well done to the iKids North team for a fantastic kids camp!
