Get the paint ready.
2018 presents your life with a blank canvas. The devil and the world have their palettes ready to paint their picture on your canvas so my advice to you on this first day of the year is USE YOUR OWN PAINTS!
1. THE COLOUR OF REVIEW
An artist needs inspiration and the best way to begin 2018 is to review the last year. When I look back on 2017 I can see that some of the paint on my canvas was not my work but splashed on me by other forces. My life has been splashed with moments of disappointment, darkness, satanic attacks
and negative comments. Dark clouds have been painted on my canvas during a very tough year BUT…at the end of 2017 as I review my life I can paint across the whole twelve months these words;
“Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come; Tis Grace hath brought me safe this far AND GRACE WILL LEAD ME HOME.”
With a strong heart I will dip my paintbrush into the Word of God and cover every dark spot and tough time with the words “GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS!”
2. THE COLOUR OF RELEASE
Don’t let your 2018 canvas be stained with past baggage. Take a brush today and paint the colour of release over your life. The enemy wants to darken your future by keeping your past on your horizon.
Don’t enter 2018 as a failure but as forgiven! Remember you have God’s permission to dump your sins! No matter what past sins have marked your life when you plunge your canvas into the crimson blood of Jesus it becomes “whiter than snow!”
Don’t just release yourself, release others too. You’ll never be able to have a bright 2018 if your
paint is soiled with unforgiveness. Col 3:13 says “forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
3. THE COLOUR OF REMEMBRANCE
Make sure that whatever hits you in 2018 has to deal with what you’ve already painted on the canvas of your life. Always remember that the devil’s paint is temporary but “THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER!”
So when the devil paints “loser” – it won’t stick because you’ve already painted “MORE THAN CONQUEROR!”
When the enemy paints “fear” – his paint won’t dry because you’ve already painted “GOD HASN’T GIVEN ME A SPIRIT OF FEAR…!”
When the enemy paints “alone” – you’ve painted “GOD WILL NEVER LEAVE ME OR FORSAKE ME!”
When the enemy paints “defeat” – you’ve painted “GOD ALWAYS CAUSES ME TO TRIUMPH!”
When the enemy paints “storm” – you’ve painted “PERFECT PEACE!”
When the enemy paints “unloved” – you’ve painted “CHOSEN FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD!”
When the enemy paints “depression” – you’ve painted “SHOUTS OF JOY & amp; VICTORY RESOUND IN THE TENTS OF THE RIGHTEOUS!”
When the enemy paints “confusion” – you’ve painted “ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER GOOD…!”
On this first day of 2018 paint this truth across your life canvas “In the world you will have tribulation BUT BE OF GOOD CHEER FOR I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD!”
4. THE COLOUR OF RENEWAL
Today is a great opportunity for you to sketch an outline of what you want on your canvas this year. Set the boundaries and markers. Let your paintwork set the spiritual temperature. Paint in new disciplines, set new goals, lift your sights and paint your skies with fresh vision and new hopes.
The renowned Bible Commentator Matthew Henry early in life painted five broad strokes on his canvas:
1. Live with all my might while I do live.
2. Never lose one moment of time, but improve it in the most profitable way possible.
3. Never do anything I should despise or think meanly of in another.
4. Never do anything out of revenge.
5. Never do anything which I should be afraid to do if it were the last hour of my life.
By the time he was 17 those bold brush strokes had risen to twenty one and by the time he died at the age of 55 to seventy. Matthew Henry did not allow anyone else to paint the canvas of his life!
Don’t let others paint your spiritual life in 2018. Instead paint the year of what you would like to see!
5. THE COLOUR OF RE-FOCUS
You cannot paint what you’re not focussed on. If you lose focus you can end up painting something you never intended! Paint on your canvas the most important things first. Don’t leave the most important things on the edge of the picture. Paint in the big rocks first. Faith, Family, Friends are too
important to be left in the shadows and remember that the paint of this world will seek to fill your canvas with its agenda!
Whenever you FIX your eyes on something everything else goes out of focus. So whatever else happens in 2018 make sure that JESUS never goes out of focus and is clearly central on the canvas of your life.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
